Steak ‘n Shake

We were entrusted with an icon. One of the oldest brands in quick service dining, Steak ‘n Shake turned to Menemsha Architecture to explore new branding elements for its upcoming series of restaurants. Rich in classic American heritage, the challenge was to think first about creating a recognizable, iconic, and timeless architectural vocabulary for the stand-alone restaurants. We sourced inspiration from the Mid-Century Modernism of Albert Frey, whose seminal work defined the age during which the original architectural elements of Steak ‘n Shake came to maturity. Within these roots was the wellspring for a contemporary reinterpretation of the brand to last for decades to come.
