Menemsha performed all services – Survey, Architecture, Construction, and Management – for the renovation of The Ambrose, a Santa Monica boutique hotel.
Our services included a complete and thorough site survey and as-built drawings since none existed. Our Architectural Team then took the design criteria and created the schematics and design layout of the newly renovated areas that included new front desk, new restaurant, new library, renovated corridors and elevators, and a brand-new courtyard in front of the hotel. It was an efficient permitting process since our Architecture Team completed much due diligence upfront with the City of Santa Monica.
The hotel remained open during the remodel which necessitated a very flexible work schedule with deliveries, noisy work, common areas, and evenings. The hotel and its customers operate 24 hours a day, and thus, our on-site team spent much time with on-site hotel management in daily and weekly look-ahead meetings. A project of this size, scope, and magnitude required considerable planning and coordination with the city, the client, the hotel management, the guests, and the neighbors. Collectively, the team worked together to make this a positive experience for everyone involved.
